Where Island Democrats Vote in the May 26 Runoff — Precincts 40 & 81
Island crew, the runoff is almost here. Tuesday, May 26, 2026 is Runoff Day, with Early Voting May 9–22. Polls run 7 AM to 7 PM. Here’s exactly where to go.
Good news for North Padre Island and Flour Bluff voters: Nueces County uses countywide Vote Centers, which means any registered voter — including everyone in Precinct 40 (North Padre Island) and Precinct 81 (Flour Bluff) — can cast a ballot at any open location in the county. You are not locked into one polling place. Pick whichever site is most convenient, whether that’s near home, near work, or on the way back from the beach.
Closest to the Island — your go-to spots:
- Island Presbyterian Church (Annex) — 14030 Fortuna Bay Drive. This is the on-Island location and the one most Precinct 40 voters use. Just over the JFK Bridge.
- Flour Bluff ISD — Janet F. Harte Public Library — 2629 Waldron Road. Closest mainland site for Precinct 81 voters and a quick stop for Islanders heading into town.
- TAMU-CC Natural Resources Center — 6300 Ocean Drive. Convenient if you work or study on campus.
A heads-up on runoff voting: Runoffs typically operate fewer Vote Centers than the March primary or November general election. The Nueces County Clerk usually finalizes the May 26 runoff Vote Center list a few weeks before Election Day. Before you head out, confirm your location at nuecesco.com or call the Elections Office at 361-888-0580. We’ll post the final list here as soon as the county releases it.
What’s on your runoff ballot: Nueces County Democratic Party Chair (Rubio vs. Rice) and Nueces County Commissioner Precinct 2 (Gonzalez vs. Noyola-Martin). For full details on each race, see our 2026 Primary Runoff page.
