Why Coastal Bend Community Members Should Attend the No Kings Rally Saturday

Come with your neighbors, your family, your American flag, and your voice. The Coastal Bend has real grievances — water crisis, gas prices, refinery jobs at risk, immigration fears — and Saturday is the day to say so out loud, together, as part of a movement of millions.

🇺🇸 What Is the No Kings Rally?

This is the third No Kings rally — a nationwide series of peaceful protests. Five million people rallied in June 2025, seven million in October 2025, and organizers are aiming for up to 9 million on March 28. Benziedemocrats More than 3,000 events are planned in all 50 states and every U.S. congressional district — the largest planned single-day protest in American history. Fast Company

Corpus Christi has shown up before. At a previous No Kings Day event in Corpus Christi, early estimates showed approximately 4,000 attendees. Organizer Garrecht of Indivisible Coastal Bend said: “We want everyone to know this isn’t a left versus right issue. This is a right versus wrong issue.” KIII TV

Why Coastal Bend Residents Should Come Saturday

🛢️ Because the Iran War is hitting YOUR wallet right now

Trump’s war on Iran is exacerbating the affordability crisis. As one labor leader put it: “America is at an inflection point. Our communities are hurting. People are afraid, and they can’t afford basic necessities.” Common Dreams Gas prices in Corpus Christi are up 77 cents a gallon since the war started — and Coastal Bend refineries are caught in the squeeze between war-driven price spikes and the water crisis.

💧 Because nobody came to save us during the water crisis

The federal government has been largely absent as Corpus Christi faces one of the worst water crises in its history. When communities are in crisis, Washington’s response matters — and this administration’s priorities have been elsewhere.

🚨 Because ICE raids are happening in South Texas

The March 28 mobilization comes amid outrage over ICE operations across the country, including in Texas, where Governor Abbott deployed the National Guard. KSAT The Coastal Bend has a large immigrant and Latino community that has been directly affected by federal enforcement actions.

🗳️ Because voting rights are under attack

At Trump’s direction, Senate Republicans are pushing the SAVE America Act — a voter suppression bill opponents warn would disenfranchise eligible voters who lack proof-of-citizenship documents. Common Dreams In a region with high numbers of working-class and minority voters, this hits home directly.

✊ Because YOUR presence makes a national statement

Indivisible co-executive director Ezra Levin says: “We will be in every single congressional district — from the bluest blue to the reddest red.” Fast Company Corpus Christi showing up in a deep-red Texas congressional district sends a powerful signal that resistance isn’t just a coastal city thing — it’s everywhere.

🕊️ Because it’s peaceful, safe, and organized

Organizers have trained thousands of volunteer marshals to maintain nonviolent principles, and have hosted training sessions on de-escalation, non-violent documentation techniques, and safety precautions. GoodGoodGood The ACLU is also hosting a free training on your constitutional right to protest.

🤝 Because community solidarity starts locally

The official message from organizers: “When our families are under attack and costs are pushing people to the brink, silence is not an option. America does not belong to strongmen, greedy billionaires, or those who rule through fear. It belongs to us, the people.” No Kings
