Third Thursday Vote Blue Happy Hour April 16

02/26/202603/22/2026

Third Thursday. 6–8pm. Usually at Perrin’s, 15137 SPID. Free to attend. Come meet the people shaping Nueces County’s future — and help shape it yourself.

Usually held at Perrin’s (Old German Bakery) 6-8 pm. Rain or shine. To double check location – call/text 361-548-6804

Why Vote Blue Happy Hour Matters to Island Democrats

It’s the heartbeat of the organization. While the Monday morning coffees are casual and conversational, the third Thursday Happy Hour is where the group shows up as a political force. It gives Island Democrats a visible, recurring presence in the community that signals the organization is active, serious, and growing. Consistency matters in organizing — when people know something happens every single month without fail, it builds trust and credibility.

For a precinct like North Padre Island — which tends to get overlooked in Nueces County politics — having a regular public gathering says loudly that progressive voters here are organized, engaged, and not going away.

Why Candidates Should Come

  • Direct access to motivated voters. The people who show up to a political happy hour are not casual — they vote, they volunteer, they donate, and they talk to their neighbors. One hour with this room is worth more than a dozen yard signs.
  • The Island is underserved. Candidates often focus on heavily populated inland areas and skip North Padre Island entirely. Showing up here sends a signal that you actually represent the whole county, not just the convenient parts.
  • Word travels fast on an island. North Padre is a tight-knit community. If you impress this group, people talk. If you skip them, people notice that too.
  • Low pressure, high value. A happy hour setting is relaxed — it’s not a debate stage or a formal forum. Candidates can have real conversations, answer real questions, and be human. Voters remember that.
  • Coastal Bend connections. The people in that room have ties across the region — to Indivisible Coastal Bend, to other Democratic precincts, to community organizations. A candidate who builds relationships here is building a network, not just collecting a vote.
  • Early support matters. Primary season candidates especially need early enthusiastic supporters. Getting endorsement buzz from Island Democrats can ripple outward.

Why Community Members Should Come

  • Meet your candidates face to face. Most people never get a chance to sit across from someone running for office and ask them a direct question. This is that chance — in a casual, comfortable setting with a drink in hand.
  • Stay informed. Elections in Nueces County affect everything from water policy to property taxes to school funding. The people in this room know what’s coming up and why it matters locally.
  • You don’t have to be a Democrat to come. Anyone curious about local politics, concerned about the water crisis, worried about gas prices, or just wanting to connect with engaged neighbors is welcome. The conversation is open.
  • It’s actually fun. Perrin’s is a great spot, the crowd is friendly, and unlike most political events it doesn’t feel like a chore. It’s a social hour that happens to also be civically valuable.
  • Community resilience starts with connection. Whether the issue is the water crisis, rising costs from the Iran war, or local elections — the people who navigate hard times best are the ones who know their neighbors and stay plugged in. This is where that happens.
  • North Padre Island needs its own voice. When Island residents don’t show up and engage, decisions that affect the island get made by people who don’t live here. Showing up is how you make sure your community has a seat at the table.
