Democratic Party Organizations in Corpus Christi, Nueces County and South Texas

  • Coastal Bend Texas Democratic Women: Dedicated to empowering women in the political landscape and supporting progressive female candidates.
  • Island Democrats: A grassroots organization focused on registering voters and organizing in the North Padre Island area.
  • Coastal Bend Stonewall Democrats: The local LGBTQ+ caucus for the Democratic Party.
  • Coastal Bend Young Democrats: Focuses on engaging and mobilizing voters under 40.
  • Tejano Democrats (Nueces County & Coastal Bend): Caucuses dedicated to advocacy and representation for the Hispanic community. Find on Facebook.
  • Nueces County Black Democrats: Focuses on political empowerment and representation for Black voters in the region.
  • Democratic Divas: Luncheons held at Silverado Smokehouse on Weber from 11:30-1:00. Speakers at each meeting. Bring your friends and neighbors. Just go through the BBQ line and come to the back room to eat with smiling, friendly people. Everyone is welcome, as they have no dues, no officers and no bylaws. The Democratic Divas meet the last Tuesday of each month. Open to everyone.

  • NAACP – H. Boyd Hall Chapter: Works to combat systemic racism, police brutality, and voter suppression.
  • Coastal Bend Pride Center / Pride Corpus Christi: Provides support, advocacy, and community-building for the LGBTQIA+ community.
  • LULAC (Councils 4848 & 4869): The League of United Latin American Citizens focuses on civil rights and economic opportunities for Hispanic Americans.
  • South Texas Colonia Initiative: Advocacy group dedicated to improving living conditions and infrastructure in unincorporated colonias.
  • Texas Rising: A youth-led organization focused on voting rights, reproductive justice, and LGBTQ+ equality.
  • Texas Association of Black Personnel in Higher Education (TABPHE): The Texas Association of Black Personnel in Higher Education (TABPHE), “taffy”, serves as a voice in helping educational Institutions address key goals for achieving success by working through local chapters to ensure a better educational system and equitable opportunities for all. This group puts on the amazing Corpus Christi Juneteenth Extravaganza each year in Downtown Corpus Christi.
  • Pride Corpus Christi: Born out of a moment of grief and resilience. In June 2016, following the tragic Orlando Pulse attack where 49 lives were lost, members of the Coastal Bend LGBTQIA+ community came together to honor the victims and stand for visibility. CCLGBT, Sarah Lydia, Korbin Boomer Matthews, and many others organized a candlelight vigil and the first Pride Parade through Downtown Corpus Christi. The event brought thousands together and marked the beginning of a new chapter for LGBTQIA+ visibility in South Texas.
