Voter registration context
Texas does not have party registration, but primary participation and modeling data paint a clear picture: Nueces County is a majority-Hispanic county where Democrats and progressives are actively competing. Critically, there is significant untapped voter potential here:
| White non-Hispanic | 79% registration rate (TX) Higher baseline participation |
| Hispanic voters (TX) | 63% registration rate 16-point gap = major organizing opportunity |
| TX voter ranking | 45th in the nation Room for major gains with active outreach |
| Island Dems role | Active registration drives Signs, cards, canvassing, and event support |
This registration gap represents one of the largest untapped progressive voter pools in South Texas. Island Democrats actively runs registration drives and works with partner organizations across the county. Candidates who engage our community early are investing in a growing electorate.
